Hybrid3D

I’ve just finished work on another portfolio site for 3D visualiser and designer, Chris Philbin, who operates under the name Hybrid3D. Chris had already mocked up the site in Photoshop so my involvement in this project was purely in the development side.

Hybrid 3D - Design and Visualisations

The site had to be light and have a number of dynamic elements such as animated page transitions and a time based background. Instead of going down the Flash route I did the whole thing in HTML and JavaScript to ensure that Chris could regularly update it with new content.

Both the ‘Design’ and ‘Visualisation’ sections are built around Lightbox2 as Chris had seen my work with Sue Rubira and wanted something similar.

The background works by synching with your computer’s clock and loading in a new stylesheet on the hour that controls the background gradient and hex value of the body element. I thought this unusual feature was a nice touch as it keeps the site looking fresh on every visit.

That’s pretty cool.
